WHAT IS BASAL IMPLANTS?

Basal implants are also known as traditional implants. These implants gets anchorage from basal bone.

BASAL IMPLANTS

Basal implants will gets fixed into basal bone.It is a lengthier implant in nature.Basal bone provides excellent quality of retention. It is a single piece implant.

WHY AND WHEN BASAL IMPLANTS?

If you did not replace your teeth immediately after your removal, you will end up in bone loss.Even your alveolar bone has resorped, your basal bone will remain intact. As basal bone is the strongest part of bone.It is also known as cortical bone.So in this situation basal implants are suggested. These bone quantity is determined using OPG/CBCT X ray.

Conventional implants

Conventional implants are placed into alveolar bone with maximum torque. It is a spongy bone present above basal bone.Conventional implants are two piece implants ,where implants gets fixed into alveolar bone ,over which abutment and crown is screwed.

STRUCTURE OF BASAL IMPLANTS

* The edge of basal implants ie ..bicortical screws will gets fixed into basal bone.
* The vertical shaft in basal implant plays a major role.It is completely a smooth surface, where bacterial infections is completely impossible and avoids periimplantitis.
* The abutment gets fused along with implant body, where connective problems can be avoided. And the abutment can be trimmed as per dentist wish, to get proper aesthetics.
